The PWD Shefa team has completed a total of 3.5 km of road upgrading at Epule. The road is an existing road used by the farmers from the area.

Initially, the problem was that the road was very slippery and badly potholed after rain and quickly became inaccessible. As a result, farmers, and people around Epule found it difficult to transport their products from the gardens to the market.

The Vanuatu Government through PWD managed the implementation of the works and the funding.  R4D2 assisted in funding the site inspectors employed to supervise the works.

This road is one of the first completed roads under the COVID-19 response plan with a focus on improving roads for transporting agricultural products from farm to market which contributes to the economic growth of Vanuatu.
