The Division Manager for Sanma reported during the QPA, “The road from Cemetery Junction to Fanafo Bamboo Corner Junction is one of the main roads used by people from Big-bay to Fanafo to get to Luganville. However, the road has deteriorated badly in the past few years with huge Potholes and road sections that need urgent retravelling”.

In 2018, PWD has scoped the road proposing Periodic Maintenance along that road section. The works were finally executed in December 2019 with works commencing in January of this year to maintain the road section.

The works completed by PWD was 22 km of road graded and 7km gravelled. Sanma Division Manager commented, “This intervention has made the people of Canal Fanafo Area happy as their cries for fixing this badly deteriorated road were finally heard”.

Local farmers around Jubilee farm to Stone hill area are also happy as they use the road to transport their products and finally it has been upgraded.
