Road from Beterara to Naviso is about 9 km. The first section starting from Beterara to Ngota is 7.25km which has been earthen since 1990. The second section starting from Ngota to Naviso was never constructed. The whole road section comprises of multiple numbers of steep sections which make transport impossible during rainy season. Transport owners were completely reluctant to take the route and therefore villagers in the area remained isolated. Starting from 2018, PWD upgraded the road section up to Ngota to the gravel standard. Further from Ngota, PWD managed to open the road track upto Naviso which is about 2km. The machines reached in the village on 14th of March 2019 for the first time. Villagers at Naviso were very happy to see PWD equipment reaching their village. They had custom ceremony to acknowledge PWD team and celebrate this great achievement.

This intervention has made the village life much easier that they have now continuous access to hospital, schools and the market towards west coast of the island. Local farmers have good access to deliver their products from the farm to the Betarara Market House. PWD has plans to implement some of improvement works such as concrete pavement and crossing structures throughout the section during 2019.
